New Ideas seeks directors and SMs

Hey kids! The producers of New Ideas 2011 are looking for directors and stage managers. Could this be you? Why the hell not?

Here’s the scoop:

Applications from directors are preferred immediately and hopefully before Fri, Nov 5.

Scripts will be at the Theatre Ontario and Toronto Reference Library (5th floor Performing Arts desk) by Sat, Nov 6 (they will also remain there until your casting is completed in January.)

The creative exchange is to be either Nov 15, 16 or 17 (wherein directors may hold 10-min. script discussions with individual playwrights).

Your 3 choices of scripts to direct must be e-mailed to new.ideas.festival@gmail.com by 5 p.m. Tues, Nov 23.

Director/playwright teams will be determined by producers and e-mailed to you between Fri, Nov 26 and Sun, Nov 28.

Auditions for all plays will be held together organized in groupings by members, sex and age range from Wed, Jan 5 – Sun, Jan 9 at noon each Saturday. Callbacks are in the 2nd and 3rd week of January.

Cross-festival casting meeting is Sat, Jan 22 (attendance or representation strongly advised).

Rehearsal space is provided as of February 1. Production dates are March 9 – 26 with a new set of productions weekly and a different staged reading with talk-back at noon each Saturday.
