Hey kids! Was just reminded by theatre pal Kim Sprenger (who’s been a busy gal over at the Village Playhouse – along with Liam Doherty and Erin Jones – in Real Estate) that Cabbagetown Theatre folks’ annual Valentine’s Day cabaret No Sweetheart Required is coming soon. Here are the details:
Take whomever you like to catch this grab bag of music, comedy and theatre at Whistler’s Grille and Café at Broadview Ave. and Pottery Rd.
Hosted by MC Liam Doherty, the evening features performances by mezzo soprano Marion Newman, comedian June Morrow, burlesque artist Dainty Smith and singer/songwriter Arlene Paculan.
Theatrical entertainment for the evening includes Another Date, written by Rosemary Doyle (My Mother’s Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding star), directed by Pat McCarthy and starring Lynne Zeelenberg and Greg Corkum; Brent Barkley’s PV-Day (Linzee Barclay, Michael Posthumus and Blake Thorne), and scenes from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, and The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Patricia Delves and performed by Leeman Kessler and Sarah St.-Onge Richards.
The event is licensed. Call 416-653-5870 for tickets. 416-421-1344 for dinner reservations. Tickets are $20. Call Feb 9 for a 50% off deal on tickets ($10 for the Wednesday performance). Performance dates: Wednesday, February 9 through Monday, February 14.
I recommend you reserve your spot – these guys tend to sell out.
I’ll be there. Will you?
