Last night (July 6) was not only opening night of the Toronto Fringe – which I’ll report on in future posts – but also the first night of auditions for the opening production of Alumnae’s 2011/12 season, Polly Teale’s “After Mrs. Rochester“.
Director Laura Roald sat alone in the house, and producers Tabitha Keast and PJ Hammond greeted nervous actors in the lobby. “Don’t worry, Laura’s very friendly”, they assured one.
Laura, who directed a stunning production of Patrick Marber’s “Closer” for Alumnae in April 2009, has started a blog for the new show. Check it out at http://www.aftermrsrochester.blogspot.com/
Laura writes: “This blog is a tool for the cast, crew, creative team of the fall 2011 production of AFTER MRS ROCHESTER and any other interested parties to track the progress of the show as we push through the smoggy summer uncovering and shaping the production. I will be posting regular updates here, as well as links and dramaturgical information related to the show. ”
