“Lysistrata – The Sex Strike” features Alumnae friends

Canopy Theatre’s current production of the bawdy ancient Greek comedy “Lysistrata – The Sex Strike” features several Alumnae Theatre friends.

Rob Candy was seen on Alumnae’s main stage in January, playing roles in both Tom Stoppard one acts, “After Magritte” and “The Real Inspector Hound”.

Carolyn Hall appeared in “Pride & Prejudice” in 2009.

Conor Hefferon graced Alumnae’s Studio stage for “Moon and Murna” in New Ideas 2011.

Laura Vincent also appeared “The Real Inspector Hound”.

Aristophanes’ script, which concerns a hilarious battle of the sexes (men in togas!  Women in their underwear!), has been adapted by noted feminist Germaine Greer and UK theatre director/playwright Phil Willmott.  This production is directed by Andrea Wasserman.

Lysistrata – The Sex Strike” runs July 20 – August 6, 2011.  Performances are Wednesday – Saturday, with a ‘doors open’ time of 7:30pm, and ‘curtain’ at 8pm.  Shows are outdoors, so BYOB (or BYOC) – bring your own blanket or chair!  The venue is the delightful Philospher’s Walk on the campus of University of Toronto – see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosopher%27s_Walk_%28Toronto%29
