Some audience members at The Underpants (which closed Oct 5) were intrigued by the listing for FireWorks in our season brochure. They wanted to know what was it, how much were tickets, how would the repertory schedule work. So here’s the skinny: FireWorks is a new initiative this season, to showcase full-length plays which have been dramaturged by Alumnae Theatre Company’s New Play Development group of playwrights (the NPD) or which have gone through dramaturgy in Alumnae’s New Ideas Festival. At the time the season brochure was printed, although the plays had been selected, details such as schedule and prices had not yet been finalized. The plays this year, which will run in repertory in the Studio space November 13 – December 1 are:
•Measure of the World by Shirley Barrie; directed by Molly Thom
Peru 1736: French scientific ambition meets mestiza cunning, and a grand quest is swamped by personal obsessions.
•Gloria’s Guy by Joan Burrows; directed by Anne Harper
How long can a girl hold a grudge? Or can an old flame burn bright? A comedy/drama about forgiveness, redemption and maybe even love!
•Theory by Norman Yeung; directed by Joanne Williams
A young professor of film theory is threatened by an anonymous mystery student.
CLARIFICATION / EXTRAS:
