It’s ramping up! The lineup of plays/writers/directors was announced yesterday (see the post titled “New Ideas Festival 2014 – the lineup!”); now the 26th annual New Ideas Festival of world premiere short works seeks actors.
Non-union actors of all ages (18+) and ethnicities are invited to audition for New Ideas Festival 2014, a three-week juried festival of 15 new works. A program of 4 different plays will be presented each week, running from Wednesday to Sunday, with a staged reading at noon on each Saturday. The Festival runs March 12-30, 2014.
General Auditions will be held in the Studio at Alumnae Theatre (70 Berkeley St., Toronto) on:
January 4 & 5 – daytime
January 6, 7 & 8 – evenings
Call-backs in the third week of January
Actors must be available for rehearsals beginning February 1.
Auditions will be booked according to age and gender, so actors should keep all the audition dates free until they receive an audition time.
Actors will perform a 2-minute monologue of their choice and a side from one of the plays. (Members of Alumnae Theatre Company have the option to read two sides rather than presenting a prepared monologue.)
Sides will be available on Alumnae’s website (www.alumnaetheatre.com) after December 20.
Please print an appropriate side and bring it to the audition along with your résumé and headshot.
Note that all directors and many playwrights attend the general auditions, so be prepared for a full house.
To book an audition, please email (after Dec. 5): firstname.lastname@example.org
Give your name, gender, acting age range, email address, phone number, and say whether you are an Alumnae member.
Please do not email between December 21 and 26.
Actors must not be a member of CAEA or ACTRA, as Alumnae Theatre is a not-for-profit, non-professional company.
